Grout is a porous material used to fill the gaps between tiles, making them water-resistant. While grout provides an essential function, it can also be challenging to clean. The good news is that with the right supplies and a little elbow grease, you can easily get your grout looking like new again. Read on to learn the best way to clean grout in your home.

Materials You Will Need
Before beginning your grout cleaning project, make sure you have the following materials on hand: a sponge or soft brush, water, baking soda, white vinegar, dish soap (optional), and hydrogen peroxide (optional).

Step 1: Start by mixing equal parts baking soda and water until it forms a paste. If you find that the paste is too thin add more baking soda until it reaches your desired consistency.

Step 2: Use your sponge or soft brush to spread the paste onto the grout lines. Allow the paste to sit for about 15 minutes before moving on to step 3.

Step 3: After 15 minutes have passed, use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe away any remaining baking soda paste from the tile surface.  Step 4: Now it’s time for some scrubbing! Dip your cloth or brush into warm water mixed with a few drops of dish soap (optional) and gently scrub away any remaining dirt or debris in the grout lines. Be sure not to be too rough as this could damage or discolor your tiles.

Step 5: Once all visible dirt has been removed, spray white vinegar onto each of the grout lines and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before wiping it away with a damp cloth or sponge. This should help kill any bacteria that may still be lingering in your grout lines after scrubbing them clean with soap and water in step 4.

Step 6 (Optional): For extra cleaning power mix equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water in a spray bottle and spray liberally onto each of the grout lines before wiping away with a damp cloth or sponge once again. This step is especially important if there are stains on your grout that won’t come out with just soap and water alone!

Cleaning your tile’s grout doesn’t have to be difficult! With just 6 simple steps you can have sparkling clean tiles in no time at all – no professional cleaning required! All you need are some basic cleaning supplies like baking soda, white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide (optional), dish soap (also optional), plus some elbow grease for scrubbing away stubborn dirt! With this guide in hand, anyone can achieve spotless tile floors without breaking a sweat!
